February 7, Poem # 26 Winter is Leaving

Winter is Leaving
By Melody Beerbower

I hear the rain tapping at the window.
It makes me kind of sad,
For it's washing away the snow,
And all the fun I had.

Snowman melting in the yard.
Soggy ground that once was hard.
Sled abandoned in the grass,
Hoping somehow the snow will last.

I smell faint traces of spring in the air.
It makes me sort of glad.
Barefoot days will soon be here.
It can't be all that bad!

The funny thing is, the day after I wrote this poem it snowed almost an inch.

Go figure.
